Slain: Back from Hell. A heavy metal inspired arcade combat with puzzle elements and gore galore. You control the fate of Bathoryn, a doomed hero in a Gothic world, who seeks to liberate six cursed realms from six deadly overlords. He must battle his way through this blighted land, packed with gruesome pixel art foes before ascending (or sometimes descending) into a stronghold, all the while defeating fiendish traps and vile monsters alike. At the heart of every domain, Bathoryn will confront a mighty foe defeat it and his quest continues to its ultimate destiny. Fail, and you'll die gruesomely mauled by werewolves, disintegrated by floating monstrosities, squashed by great weights or torn apart by hidden blades.

Slain! is an action/platformervideo game developed by Wolf Brew Games.[1] The game was received negatively at launch, prompted the developers to overhaul and relaunch the game under the title Slain: Back from Hell; the latter version had a better reception.

Gameplay[edit]

Slain! is an action, platformervideo game in the style of the retro 16-bit era, shares similarities in tone and design to the Castlevania series, with elements of medieval Gothic architecture and Heavy Metal.

Development[edit]

Slain! was developed by Wolf Brew Games.[1] The game was initially scheduled to be released in late 2015, but was delayed to 24 March 2016.[1] Due to the negative reception of Slain!, the game was overhauled and relaunched as Slain: Back from Hell on 2 August 2016.[2] It was released on the Nintendo Switch, in North America and Europe on December 7, 2017, and in Japan on March 1, 2018.[3][4]
